Surely the main incentive to initiate permaculture would be to eat our OWN food. As a first step, rather than exploring the myriad techniques to GROW food such as rotations, inter-cropping, we ought to explore the food that ALREADY grows naturally, easily, and immediately around us. These foods have high nutritional and medicinal values, they are very tasty, they grow well with less water, they require no expertise to cultivate, nor machinery, or synthetic chemicals; and they undermine the destructive industrialization that has eroded well-being on EVERY level of our lives.
In this workshop, we will explore Solitude Farm, and harvest up to 30, or even 40 different plants and parts of plants, such as flowers, roots, leaves, fruits, vegetables, etc. We will then return to the farm Café, wash and prepare all the produce we’ve harvested and create salad, chutney, and juices.
This is added to our lunch and the participants sit down eating together, – exploring this food on the palate is where the true learning takes place!
The timings of the workshop are 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM followed by lunch at Solitude farm café.
