The online workshop is conducted by facilitators from OK Upcycling Studio, based in Auroville.
Upcycling is essentially a more advanced form of reusing. Instead of or just reusing an old product, we focus on its building blocks and thereby reuse waste or discarded materials to create new products of higher complexity, quality or value than the original.
People have been upcycling for centuries! Making complex garments from older fabrics, building machines from disused metals or jewellery from shells and rocks are all forms of upcycling.
In this spirit, the Upcycling Studio brings you a series of interactive workshops to learn and make beautiful products by upcycling. The spirit of making a product with your tutor right on your screen promotes a healthy way of working. We are with you to guide the process!
This first module of the series guides you to create your own trendy coaster using discarded bottle caps and pieces of cloth!
Material you will need:
- 7 bottle caps of the same size
- 2 CDs
- cardboard/postcard/greeting cards
- scissors
- needle and thread
- glue gun with one glue stick
Who can attend this workshop?
Anyone over the age of 15! We encourage everyone to learn how to consciously tackle waste.
