This workshop is aimed at introducing participants to the ancient art of paper making. Participants will be instructed on how to prepare plant fibers, make pulp, form sheets, etc. and will try their hands at different stages of the paper making process.

Earth and bamboo are two materials which have been used together for a wide range of traditional construction techniques in Southeast Asia. They are locally abundant, affordable and with a very low carbon footprint. They are known to be materials of the people. They can be used for crude self-construction or can be engineered with high precision.

Our two-day workshop is an artistic encounter towards recycling waste paper. Learn to make paper pulp, create your mould and give shape to your ideas using paper-mache. Paper-mache is versatile and can be used to make decorative or functional objects such as, masks, bowls, vases and so on.

Compressed Stabilised Earth Block (CSEB) is composed of a mix of soil, sand and water, stabilised with ~5% cement, and compressed manually. This technique aims to make extensive use of raw earth as the main building material, thereby utilizing low-cost, low-carbon, local materials and minimising the use of imported industrial building materials.

04 September - 06 September

Exploring Auroville Architecture is developed by Auroville Consulting in cooperation with local experts in order to share our experience in architecture with the world outside. During the 3-day workshop participants will get to experience the various architectural expressions at Auroville and the learning that came during the building process.
