“Sustainability is no longer a choice—it’s a necessity,” says one of Egai’s executives. “Through our work, we hope to inspire others to embrace eco-friendly living and appreciate the beauty of traditional crafts.”
Inspired by the coconut tree, a symbol of resilience and versatility, Egai crafts its products from natural materials like coconut shells, palm leaves, bamboo, and jute. Each piece tells a story of sustainability, offering an alternative to mass-produced goods while supporting local artisans. By preserving traditional weaving techniques, Egai ensures these timeless skills are passed on to future generations.

“Plastics are everywhere,” laments Anandabaskaran, one of Egai’s leaders. “But what if we could replace them with something beautiful and sustainable?”
Egai’s product line includes handcrafted home and kitchen items, each designed to showcase the natural elegance of its materials. From coconut shell bowls to palm leaf baskets, every item is a testament to the power of sustainable craftsmanship. “Our ancestors lived sustainably,” Anandabaskaran reflects. “We’re simply bringing those practices back to life.”
Egai’s mission goes beyond crafting—it’s about empowering people. Through skill development workshops, the organization teaches the art of sustainable crafting to village youth, women artisans, and visitors alike. “Our workshops are about more than just making products,” explains Ananda. “They’re about creating opportunities and fostering creativity.”
