Natural Building

This sustainable architecture workshop is dedicated to exploring cost-efficient, environmentally friendly, green and sustainable building materials, with a specific focus on mud and lime, which have been utilized in construction for centuries. Participants will gain insights into identifying the distinct properties of earth and lime, understanding how to procure and prepare them, and exploring various applications. The interactive sessions foster a dynamic learning environment that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical sessions, covering topics such as climate-responsive design and planning. Natural building materials will be employed, accompanied by interdisciplinary components like renewable energy, dry compost toilets, wastewater treatment, waste management, and rainwater harvesting.

Throughout the Natural Building workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage with various architectural expressions in Auroville, gaining insights from the learning experiences embedded in the building process.
