This organic farming workshop empowers you with the knowledge and skills to cultivate your own food, whether you have a small window garden or a vast expanse of land. Delve into the implementation of ecologically oriented farming designs, covering crop rotations, intercropping, mulching, water recycling principles, and the creation of your own bioenzyme. Participants will also grasp the interdependent relationship between organic food and health, understanding the significance of indigenous food in the journey to well-being.
Context
Auroville boasts over 20 organic farms, spanning more than 370 acres, collectively owned without private ownership. These farms aim to establish a sustainable, financially viable model of organic farming, fostering a harmonious relationship between food and community for a more conscious living. Their objective is to cater to all food consumption needs of the community, ultimately achieving local food security and self-sustainability. The model practised in Auroville serves as a potential solution to global food and health-related crises, urging wider adoption worldwide.
